Intermediate Environmental Scientist: Regulatory and Site Closure

Bowron Environmental Group Ltd., (Bowron) is a growing multi-disciplinary environmental management company focused on providing services to the upstream oil & gas industry. We are looking for a dedicated and motivated professional to join our team as an Intermediate Environmental Scientist in our Calgary office. This position will require a large amount of time in the field to execute a variety of assessment, remediation, monitoring and reclamation work.

Responsibilities

Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordination, execution, and reporting of Phase I, Phase II, and Phase III Environmental Site Assessments as well as reclamation, remediation, risk assessment, soil monitoring, and groundwater monitoring programs;
  • Development and implementation of work plans;
  • Interpretation of data and preparation of technical reports;
  • Review of invoices and reports to ensure accuracy and confirm that client requirements are met; and
  • Assistance in the development, monitoring, and improvement of QA/QC programs/tools in line with Bowron’s Professional Practice Management Plan.

Required Skills / Qualifications

The successful candidate should:

  • Possess over 3 years’ relevant experience;
  • Have obtained a degree or diploma in environmental sciences or similar field. Professional designation or the option to obtain this designation is considered to be an asset;
  • An understanding of provincial and federal criteria, guidelines, directives etc. applicable to Alberta and Saskatchewan upstream oil and gas (BC would be considered an asset);
  • Have previous field experience related to the above mentioned job responsibilities;
  • Strong multitasking, planning and organizational skills;
  • A background in exceeding customer expectations; and
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Senior Project Manager (Operations)

Our Environmental Services Division (ESD) is looking for an intermediate to senior level individual to join our team as a SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER (OPERATIONS).

Supported by our technical administration team, the successful candidate will be responsible for the staffing, scheduling and coordination of field programs, quality assurance, policy and procedure adherence, HSE program administration, technical compliance, and the execution of overall client objectives.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preference will be given to those with a university level education and a minimum of five (5) years related work
    experience.
  • Preference will be given to an individual of good character who is reliable, accessible, motivated and willing to put in the work to deliver for our clients.

Contract Environmental Field Supervisors – Environmental Services Division

Our Environmental Services Division (ESD) is looking for motivated individuals to join our team as ENVIRONMENTAL FIELD SUPERVISORS (CONTRACT).

The position involves management of environmental assessments and monitoring related to pre-disturbance site activity, drilling waste disposal events, general construction field support and water diversion events associated with various resource transmission and extraction projects located throughout Western Canada (BC, AB & SK).

Responsibilities (not inclusive):

  • Landowner and Client Liaison
  • Data Collection & Sample Analysis
  • Drilling Waste Disposal Supervision
  • HDD Waste Management
  • Water Act Compliance Monitoring
  • Construction Field Support
  • Environmental Monitoring

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Preference will be given to those with a university level education in a related environmental discipline. Applicants with a two (2) year technical diploma in earth sciences, environmental management or land reclamation are also encouraged to apply.
  • Proponents require a valid Divers License and prior certification in First Aid & CPR, H2S Alive and CSO (Common Safety Orientation). Additional safety training, including TDG & GHS / WHMIS, will be provided to successful candidates.
  • Previous experience with respect to drilling waste management services on midstream and upstream oil and gas projects are considered an asset.
  • The successful candidate will operate as an independent contractor and must be willing to establish a registered consulting company that maintains general liability insurance, commercial automotive insurance and WCB clearance.
  • Additional equipment includes the requirement for routine personal protective equipment, handheld GPS, laptop computer, digital camera, printer / scanner, and a reliable vehicle with off-road capabilities.
